Planchettes in the past have been heavily associated with Ouija boards, but in recent times they have branched off into their own terroritory as a means of communicating with spirit. Attached to small castor wheels and whilst holding a pen they are now being used more increasingly as a tool for automatic writing. The advantage with using this is that nobody can see what is being marked down, and since the planchette is too unstable to be controlled effectively via one users finger then the possiblity of results being obtained fraudulently is very slim.
