How
to Get There
The nearby village of Berry Pomeroy and of Berry
Pomeroy Castle itself is easy to find and is well signposted
as you approach Totnes. The best way to find the castle is
to start from Paignton Zoo and travel towards Totnes. As you
go across a large crossroads keep travelling forwards towards
Totnes but as the road starts to bear left after the speed
camera take the small road that cuts off just to the right
(there should be a 'Berry Pomeroy Castle' brown sign pointing
to it). Keep travelling straight down there, keeping on the
straight road until you come out at a crossroad that intersects
a busy two-way main road. Turn left here and travel down towards
Berry Pomeroy village. Now, keep a keen eye on your right
because there's a very sharp turning that bends back almost
180 degrees and is quite hard to see if you're not looking
for it. This is a short, windy road. As you drive up it you
should soon see a couple of houses as the road bears right.
Turn left at these houses and in front of you will be the
gate entrance to the Castle grounds. Just drive down this
and you'll get there. Be wary - these woods you drive through
are said to be haunted...
